This watercolor was inspired by the coastal waters of Castine, Maine, where sailboats drift across a wide, open sky and navy blue sea. I wanted this painting to capture the sailboat's silent movement and the ocean's billowing salt air, where the only thing you can hear is wind and the sound of the harbor bell in the distance.
